Se suicida un niño de 12 años en el Centro de Menores "El Picón"

No es negligencia, es asesinato.

El
día 2 de diciembre, según han informado fuentes de la propia
institución, se ha suicidado un niño de doce años en el centro de
menores “Picón”.

Aún
no se tienen muchos datos ni están totalmente claras las circunstancias
de lo que ha ocurrido, solo se sabe que el niño fue encerrado en Picón
hace aproximadamente 15 días.

Este
centro, gestionado por la Fundación O`Belen, lleva siendo denunciado
por maltratar a los chavales desde hace más de dos años. En menos de
dos meses cuatro chavales y una educadora han denunciado ante el IMMF
malos tratos y violaciones graves de los derechos humanos.

Tampoco
se conocen las condiciones concretas en las que este chico estaba
recluido. Esta noticia es atroz, pero por otra parte no termina de
sorprendernos, ya que en “Picón” han sido constatadas prácticas como
estas.

- Aislamiento:
Se aplica durante al menos 24 horas continuadas a todos los chavales
cuando ingresan. También se usa constantemente como forma de castigo.
El aislamiento a menores esta prohibido por las Naciones Unidas desde
1990. Diversos estudios prueban que multiplica el riesgo de suicidio,
especialmente en menores.

- Agresiones físicas y psicológicas. Varios
chavales denuncian que se les tira al suelo y se les retuercen las
extremidades para “contenerles cuando están nerviosos”, también
refieren insultos y humillaciones de todo tipo. Este verano un chico de
17 años tuvo que ser hospitalizado con el cráneo fracturado y varios
más han sufrido contusiones y lesiones.

- Violación del derecho a la intimidad: cacheos, desnudos, registros, escuchas de llamadas, violación del secreto de correspondencia.

- Privación de libertad sin orden judicial:
los chicos y chicas de “Picón” son recluidos en base a supuestos
problemas psicológicos y pasan semanas enteras en el interior del
recinto. A muchos se les impide acceder a la educación obligatoria.

- Medicación forzosa y sin supervisión facultativa.
Los chavales de “Picón” también denuncian haber sido obligados a
ingerir sedantes y antipsicóticos sin haber sido diagnosticados por un
médico, y que pasan meses sin ver al psiquiatra que prescribe los
fármacos o que las dosis son irregulares según las “existencias en el
centro”, lo que produce síndrome de abstinencia y otros efectos graves.
