Comunicado de Jeffrey Luers ante los actos del día internacional de Solidaridad

El pasado 12 de junio se realizaron diveros actos cuando se cumplía noveno aniversario de encarcelamiento de Jeffrey Luers.
Sin embargo el sentimiento este año ha sido muy distintos pues el año pasado la sentencia de Jeffrey Luers se vio reducida de 23 a 10 años y esperemos ya en breve su salida de la cárcel, prevista para diciembre de este año.
Pero junto a esta victoria viene mucho trabajo por hacer.
Durante los últimos 9 años Jeffrey ha vivido una vida muy diferente.
Aún habiendo permanecido fuerte, el choque con su nueva vida va a ser inevitablemente fuerte, teniendo que volver a rehacer la vida que dejó aparacada cuando fue forzado a vivir entre rejas.
Las cosas han cambiado y Jeffrey también.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde mi último escrito, pero este junio, amigos, aliados, compañeros, solidarios y resistentes van a celebrar el séptimo y último día internacional en solidaridad conmigo, Jeffrey Luers.
Este junio marca el noveno y último año de condena y la fecha prevista para libertad se acerca. Estos años me han pasado factura tanto emocional como físicamente. Llegué a prisión siendo un joven idealista de 21 años y voy a abandonarla siendo mucho más duro y cínico en mis treinta años recién cumplidos.
Tras estos muros he observado la lucha por mi libertad y el reconocimiento de preso político llevada a cabo por un puñado de amigos y como ésta se transformó en una campaña a nivel internacional. Me ha tocado el corazón, me ha inspirado y he disfrutado observando todo este proceso.
Vuestro apoyo y ánimo han alimentando mis ganas de continuar con la lucha por la liberación de la tierra y por la justicia social y climática desde dentro de esta jaula.
Sin vosotros, amigos, no sería quién soy ahora mismo y seguramente andaría perdido.
Solamente unos pocos (afortunadamente) sabrán el dolor, la pérdida el coraje y la determinación que un presos político experimenta durante su encarcelamiento.
Tampoco los retos a los que uno se debe de enfrentar. Por desgracia, durante mi encarcelamiento he sido testigo de un sustancial incremento en el número de hermanos y hermanas encarceladas como consecuencia de su resistencia.
Muchos de estos han sido acusados de actos terroristas o definidos como tales.
Soy muy consciente de lo que eso significa porque lo he sufrido en propias carnes.
Yo vuelvo a casa, pero la necesidad de apoyar a los presos políticos está lejos de terminar. Ahora más que nunca, nuestro movimiento necesita mostrar solidaridad de forma cotidiana con nuestros presos políticos muchos de los cuales continúan sufriendo muchos años de condenas desde las cárceles de máxima seguridad y las unidades de control.
Los eventos solidarios convocados anualmente a nivel internacional han sido un componente crucial en la campaña de apoyo.
Han servido para conseguir los fondos necesarios, extender la concienciación sobre mi caso y sobre todo nos ha cargado de inspiración a un incontable número de activistas en los cuales me incluyo. Los actos han supuesto un grito de guerra para actuar y solidarizarse. Creo firmemente que ha sido la presión internacional lo que ha conseguido esta drástica reducción de mi pena.
Este será mi último junio en prisión pero os pido y espero que a partir de ahora el 12 de junio sea entendido como el día de solidaridad internacional con los presos del frente de Liberación de la Tierra.Espero que cada año estos actos, acciones, eventos, manifestaciones, etc se intensifiquen hasta que todos nuestros guerreros estén en casa.
Espero que este 12 de junio sirva para que aquellos guerreros y resistentes que miran a la cárcel como un posible destino como consecuencia de la lucha, sepan que no estarán solos y que el conjunto del movimiento estará apoyándoles.
La lucha debe continuar hasta que todos seamos libres.
Ayúdanos a traer a todos y cada uno de nosotros a casa.
